18th C Heddle Tape Loom

18th C Heddle Tape Loom

  • I have had this in my collection for 40 years.

It is American - a tape loom which was held by the knees, to weave tape for edging garments.

Carved so that the narrower end could stand upright and be held by the indentations.  One edge worn down - very old wear

    Decorative scallop on the bottom.

    22" x 9"

Found in Connecticut at a Russell Carrell show in the 70s.  Dating from the late 1700s.
