2 19th C Needle Holders

2 19th C Needle Holders

  • For the vintage sewing enthusiast: 2 little turned wood sewing needle holders.

The smaller has a pedestal base and opens just above the base to store needles.  It is only 2 1/2" tall.

The other is very interesting: also on a pedestal base, it is urn shaped and the top is attached, but turns.  As it turns it moves to various size needles which can then be shaken out of the hole in the top.

It is painted (paint worn) and says on the front: "Contents: 50 assorted needles, gold and silver eyes.  Turn the stroke on the required nunber and shake out the needle.  Germany".  There are no needles left on the container.

This one is 3 1/4" tall.

Dating from the late 1800s, early 1900s.
