  • This is a very unusual soapstone inkwell in that it is small, highly decorated, and is also painted.

    Each side has a carved triangle with multiple lines decorating the corners.

    There is a well in the center of the top.

    Thhe flat sides have been painted in old red milk paint

    Very attractive and different.

    1 3/4" x 1 1/2" x 1 1/4" tall.

    Vermont origin, late. 1700s, early 1800s.
