This thick, hand made mortar is very early and smooth from use.

Beautifully carved with multiple rings and lines. 

Deep Spanish brown color.

5 1/2" x 5 1/2".  Pestle is 8 1/4', very smooth and appears to be original to the mortar.

Minor surface hairline at the base.

Found in New Hampshire and dating from the late 1700s to early 1800s.
